Robert Frost- the Cat with a human name (Warsaw IN Film Photographers)

On April 11th 2013, one of the dearest people I've ever loved passed from this earth, Jonathon Bedell. Jonny was my best friend, aside from Sam, and I still struggle daily with knowing I won't ever get one of his hugs again.

With his passing, he left behind a special needs cat, Robert Frost, whom he had adopted from an animal shelter. (Which may or may not have been partly my fault to begin with- having once worked for animal shelters, I often am encouraging people I know to adopt!) Robert (or Bob The Cat, as we often call him) was unable to stay with Jonny's partner because of his particular issues. When I found out they were looking to find him a new home, I offered our home as a last resort- figuring since we lived in Indiana, and Robert lived in South Carolina, it'd be a long shot.

Apparently there was no other home, because in a bit of a whirlwind, we suddenly found that we were adopting a cat from SC!

One of Jonny's friends, Jessica, works through an animal rescue group that helps arrange transport for animals to cross state lines- and with the help of some incredible volunteers, three weeks after Jonny's passing, we found ourselves on a road trip to Ohio to meet someone for the final leg of his journey.  Jessica started out, then passed him off to a sweet friend who housed him over night. The next morning she passed him off to another transport guy, who safely handed him over to us!

Part of Robert Frost's issues were that he didn't get along with other cats, would get bullied, and suffered from anxiety because of this. I'm so thrilled to say that he has settled in very nicely, despite us having 7 other cats, & has made friends with one of our other special needs cat, Jedi!

Robert is the sweetest thing, and we are so delighted to have his fuzzy little face in our home now. When I hug him I feel like a little piece of Jonny is still with us. So many have told us what a Very Big Thing we did- but really, Robert did the Big Thing- we were just there with open arms.

While on the journey, I shot a roll of film, so here's some of Robert Frost's story.
